Two American Airlines jets were still standing by at Palm Springs International Airport about 2 p.m. awaiting departure clearance from company officials after the airline grounded flights nationwide due to “network outages.”
American hopes to have the problem cleared up by later afternoon, the company said in a statement.
American offers daily non-stop service out of Palm Springs to Chicago and Dallas. The airline advises it will work closely with passengers to get them to their destinations.
“If your travel plans are flexible, there will be no charge if you would like to change your reservation and we will provide full refunds if your travel plans are not flexible,” wrote American spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagen in an email. “However, we are unable to make changes to current travel plans until we have resolved this issue.”
