Former Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia is known for her colorful descriptions of public policies and fellow elected leaders.
And though it’s been five years since she held elected office, the Palm Desert Republican hasn’t lost her flair.
While Garcia was re-introducing herself to the Coachella Valley-Heritage Palms Congress of Republicans today, she strutted in a small circle and told the crowd to take a good look at her.
“This is what a Latina Republican looks like,” she said.
She said people don’t always believe it — “It’s like a unicorn sighting,” she quipped — but stressed that such voters and candidates do exist.
Garcia, who represented parts of the Coachella Valley for six years in the Assembly, is running for 28th state Senate seat.
Indio Councilman Glenn Miller is also campaigning for the position, which is on the 2014 ballot.
