U.S. Open Day 3: A few quick thoughts

June 15th, 2013 | by Larry Bohannan | Comments

Just a few thoughts as we wind our way slowly through the first nine of the U.S. Open:

–Tiger Woods just looks like he can’t get anything going. Not playing awful, but not playing that well, either. Just kind of flaoting.

–I told the radio folks at KXPS Friday that I liked Luke Donald to win a first major on as short-ish Open course. I see nothing to change that right now.

–Phil Mickelson is kind of spraying it all over the joint off the tee today, even with a driver in his bag. He could have seized this championship yesterday, now just one of many contenders today.

–I have never hit three balls out of bounds on a single hole, so how could Sergio Garcia do it?

–The pros sure have mastered the art of playing slow. Five hours for the last group would be a pipe dream at this point. Uh, while we’re young?
