Disney’s D23 “official” fan club has unveiled a revamped website that has some awesome vintage photos from Walt Disney’s personal camera.

The new website was unveiled Monday and includes areas that can be accessed only by D23 members. But there are also now three tiers of membership, the lowest of which is free.

Gold and Silver members receive opportunities to attend special events that include advance screenings of Disney films, VIP tours of the Walt Disney studio lot in Burbank and discounts on hotels and restaurants in and around Disney parks.

The Gold, which costs $74.99 a year, also includes the quarterly magazine that takes members behind the scenes of new movies and happenings at  Disney parks and stores. Silver membership is $34.99.

Free memberships include access to all areas of D23.com as well as the weekly D23 Fan Fare newsletter that goes out by email. There are also opportunities to attend some of the special events.

The best part of the redesigned website is the rare photos of Walt, many of them never before released to the public. Check out more photos at https://d23.com/never-before-released-photos-from-walt-disneys-camera/

I’m starting to get excited about the D23 Expo, Aug. 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The full schedule isn’t out yet, but a theatrical performance, “Broadway and Beyond,” has been announced for that Friday evening. Billed as a “musical journey into Disney’s history on Broadway and beyond,” the performance is scheduled to include Heidi Blickenstaff from “The Little Mermaid,” Ashley Brown from “Mary Poppins” and “Beauty and the Beast,” Merle Dandridge of “Tarzan” and “Aida,” and Alton Fitzgerald White from “The Lion King,” performing songs from the award-winning musicals in which they starred.

Marvel Universe stars, plus character appearances by Spider-Man and Iron Man, are planned for the first day of the convention.

There will also be an opportunity for kids — and adults — to meet some of their favorite stars from Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior, see some live performances, get autographs and rock out to Radio Disney tunes throughout the event.

The convention traditionally also includes a preview of upcoming films — even those barely off the storyboards — and the presentation of the new Disney Legends. There are various panels that include creators of Disney and Pixar films and celebrities; a live auction of a wide variety of Disney memorabilia; musical performances; vendors with tons of collectibles to sell; and more.

Tickets for D23 Expo can be purchased at D23.com. You can get a three-day pass or single day tickets.
