Move over, Liberace — a Barbra Streisand biopic is in the works.

Locals Daniel Vaillancourt and David A. Lee recently secured the film rights to Hello, Gorgeous: Becoming Barbra Streisand,  William J. Mann’s 2012 unauthorized 2012 biography of the 71-year-old singer and actress.

In an interview with The Backlot, the Palm Springs residents said although the movie’s script is complete, it is still in the early stages of development.

They approached Lea Michele for the title role, Lee said, who turned it down “because she wasn’t interested in doing it as a TV movie,” the duo’s original vision for the script.

Lee said he and Vaillancourt are currently “hoping to spread the word that this project is out there and available,” particularly in the wake of HBO’s recent Liberace biopic, Behind the Candelabra.
