Desert Water Agency seat remains in limbo

July 2nd, 2013 | by Erica Felci | Comments

The status of Tom Kieley’s seat on the Desert Water Agency board remains in limbo today.

Desert Sun readers will recall that Kieley told his former board members on June 4 that he was stepping down from a seat he’s held since 1985.

He hasn’t attended an agency meeting since then, including the one this morning.

But Kieley also hasn’t submitted a formal resignation letter, which means the agency can’t start the process of finding his successor.

Kieley, who runs an insurance and financial services firm in Palm Springs, is also a risk management consultant for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.

That would be the same Indian tribe that’s suing the water agency over rights to the Coachella Valley’s underground water source.

Kieley has not returned multiple phone messages that The Desert Sun has left since mid-June.
