Westfield Palm Desert mall evacuated after fire alarm

A fire alarm forced shoppers to evacuate Westfield Palm Desert mall over the weekend, a Riverside County fire spokesman told The Desert Sun on Monday.

The alarm sounded at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the mall and unspecified number of people were being evacuated as crews arrived at 7:12 p.m., spokesman Mark Annas said.

Fire crews quickly determined it was a false alarm — but the social media reaction caught the eye of The Desert Sun (@MyDesert), including these tweets:
