Palm Springs hotels are cutting rates and rolling back other costs like resort fees and even throwing in complimentary bottles of water for evacuees displaced by the Mountain Fire, which has consumed more than 22,800 acres and displaced some 6,000 residents in mountain communities around Palm Springs.
More than a dozen hotels across all cost points ranging from the boutique to name brand franchises are offering special rates as low as $49 a night for guests who’ve been displaced by the fire. In nearly all cases, proof of residency is required. And not all hotels will accept children and pets.
Jennifer Masten, general manager at The Curve Palm Springs, acknowledged, being evaucated is stressful, and unexpected hotel costs can add to that stress. The Curve dropped its rates to $50 a night, plus tax. Use the promo code MC.
“We felt it was important to do what we can to help during this stressful time and this included offering a special rate for all of those affected by the fire,” she said. “Although the hotel is seeing high occupancy with a planned pool event on Saturday, we have received several new reservations from those affected by the fire.”
However, deals are out there for residents in places like Idyllwild, which has been evacuated, making Palm Springs not a bad place to be this weekend. And even though the fires remain ominously close — officials say the flames are two miles from south Palm Springs, though are not expected to threaten the city — an afternoon next to a cool pool could be a nice reprieve.
The Palm Mountain Resort and Spa is offering $49 a night, plus tax, beginning on Sunday, through Friday, July 26 and is waiving its $12 a day resort fee. Book by phone only, and use the promo code Fire.
While at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club, rooms on Friday and Saturday are going for $159 a night, plus tax, and then drop to $89 a night for Sunday to Friday bookings. Also, the resort and pet fees are waived. Book by phone only, and use the promo code Mountain Fire.
Other hotels like the Riviera Palm Springs want a one night deposit at the time of booking. Rates there are $79, plus tax, for Sunday to Friday, and $149 on Satu4rday.
