A gay son grapples with father’s lack of acceptance following unexpected death

Recent advances in marriage equality and other rights for LGBT Americans might cause some to believe that coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender is easier. In some ways, it is easier to be out and proud socially or at work than it is with the people whose opinions and acceptance matter the most.

For many of us, coming out to our parents with a loving relationship in tact is the biggest hurdle to overcome.
