PALM SPRINGS — Cedar Fair Entertainment, which owns notable theme parks such as Knott’s Berry Farm and Cedar Point in Ohio, has sold the Knott’s Soak City in Palm Springs.

Orlando-based CNL Lifestyle Properties, Inc., a real estate investment firm that owns ski resorts and other water parks throughout the United States, purchased the 21-acre Knott’s Soak City this week. New Jersey-based Premier Attractions Management, LLC, which owns and manages many water parks, will operate the park.

The Gene Autry Trail water park – once known as Oasis before Knott’s took it over — will retain the Knott’s name through the end of the year. The sale will not affect customers this season. All passes will continue to be honored as originally promised, Premier Attractions officials said in a news release Tuesday.

“The acquisition of Knott’s Soak City – Palm Springs provides an exciting opportunity to further grow our attractions portfolio and expand our important relationship with Premier Attractions Management, a dynamic and proven operator for us in this sector,” said Stephen H. Mauldin, president and CEO of CNL Lifestyle Properties.

“Palm Springs is in an ideal location for a water park; the region’s favorable climate provides for an extended and very stable operating season, and proximity to Los Angeles allows for the opportunity to draw guests from one of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas.”
