Football Power Rankings

September 10th, 2013 | by Andrew L. John | Comments

Now that every team in the valley has played at least one game, the power rankings are back! Granted, these rankings mean very little, as one or two games is not quite enough to gauge exactly how good each team will be this season. That said, we’ll start here and should know a lot more about each of these teams in the coming weeks.

Check back every Tuesday for updates.

1. Palm Springs (2-0) — DVL champs outscored opponents 102-20 in first two games.
2. Cathedral City (1-0) — The Lions scored 50 in the first half against Banning.
3. La Quinta (1-0) — The Blackhawks avenged last year’s loss to Arlington, 27-7.
4. Coachella Valley (1-0) — CV avenged a 70-0 loss to West Valley.
5. Palm Desert (1-1) — The Aztecs dropped 49 in the first half against Shadow Hills.
6. Shadow Hills (1-1) — Still ranked by the CIF-SS after a blowout loss to Palm Desert.
7. Xavier Prep (1-1) — Beat De Anza League power Twentynine Palms for first win.
8. Indio (0-1) — Indio’s second game was cancelled due to lightening.
9. Desert Hot Springs (0-2) — DHS stumbled out of the gates against two tough teams.
10. Desert Mirage (0-2) — The Rams will host their first home game this week.
