An empty lot on South Palm Canyon Drive is set to become a new restaurant/bar/pool combo known as Hacienda Cantina and Beach Club.
The Old Creek House restaurant used to occupy the site next to the Plaza del Sol shopping center.
Chris Pardo, the project’s architect — who’s also involved with other projects in the area, notably the Arrive Palm Springs, a 32-room hotel set to break ground on Thursday — would only say his firm is designing the pool and restaurant areas.
“I will contact the developer and find out what he is ready to release. Will get back to you this week,” Pardo said in an email Monday.
Though it appears the Hacienda is set to become a venue of sorts for hosting pool parties and other events. The location is ideal, given the cool-kid neighbors Ace Hotel and Swim Club, Saguaro Palm Springs, The Curve Palm Springs, all just up the street. All three have done a good job of marketing themselves to young-ish, professional hip travelers from other parts of Southern California. And all three have made the DJ-spinning pool party a centerpiece of their mojo and vibe.
So it comes to reason that Hacienda might want to become part of this SoPS momentum.
