On Thursday evening, candidates for mayor and city council will face off in a debate at Desert Hot Springs High School. Desert Sun political reporter Erica Felci and Newstalk 920 AM’s Steve Kelly will moderate the discussion. They’ll pose their own questions, but also give the audience a chance to quiz the candidates about issues near and dear to their voting hearts, too.
Doors open at 5:40 p.m. and the debate kicks off at 6 p.m. If you can’t make it, don’t fret — we’ll be streaming the entire event here at mydesert.com. Just bookmark or save this page and come back at 6 to watch the debate live.
Candidates scheduled to attend as of this writing include John-Paul Valdez, Yvonne Parks, Joe McKee, Scott Matas, Jan Pye and Robert Bentley. Topics planned for discussion will include the city’s fiscal condition and budget, the search for a new city manager, the Desert Hot Springs city image/brand, the role of elected officials and conduct, economic development and jobs, and public safety.
