Football: Week 4 Power Rankings

September 16th, 2013 | by Andrew L. John | Comments

We’re now heading into Week 4 and for the first time this season we have a change at the top of the power rankings. Palm Springs, the defending Desert Valley League champs, showed its youth in an embarrassing loss on the road last Friday. Meantime, other teams kept surging. Here’s the breakdown in our latest Power Rankings.

Check the Desert Sun sports blog for weekly updates.

1. La Quinta (2-0) — Dominated two traditionally strong Central Division teams.
2. Cathedral City (2-0) — Lions look legit after outscoring two opponents 105-19.
3. Palm Springs (2-1) — Should respond fiercely after humbling loss to Silverado.
4. Xavier Prep (2-1) — The Saints may have the best passing offense in the valley.
5. Palm Desert (1-2) — Aztec fans can’t like what they’ve seen in two losses.
6. Shadow Hills (2-1) — The Knights are back on track after big loss to Palm Desert.
7. Coachella Valley (1-1) — Players need to put big loss to Brawley behind them.
8. Desert Hot Springs (0-3) — Blowout losses are not indicative of team’s talent.
9. Indio (0-2) — The Rajahs have shown little fight in two blowout losses.
10. Desert Mirage (0-3) — If the Date Bowl doesn’t get them jacked, nothing will.
