More than 150 people lined up outside the Palm Springs GameStop for the midnight release of Grand Theft Auto V.

The game, which has received superb reviews, is predicted to be one of the most financially successful video games ever made.

Some people lined up at 8 p.m. to get a copy of the game. A projector screen was set up with video games to keep people occupied, while a police officer patrolled the scene.

The GTA V game world includes parody versions of some local landmarks, including the Palm Springs tram and the Salton Sea.

The Desert Sun plans to publish a digital tour of those locations online midday Tuesday. Until then, we are waiting in line, just like everybody else.
