The Eastern Riverside County Lincoln Club saw a shake-up in its leadership this week.

matasDesert Hot Springs Mayor Pro Tem Scott Matas told The Desert Sun that he resigned as president for “personal reasons” and to free up time to focus on his council re-election bid.

Palm Springs Unified board member Gary Jeandron, the club’s first vice president and a state Assembly candidate, will take over as interim president until the club election in November.

The change comes about three months after Palm Springs-based Eastern Riverside County Lincoln Club leaders confirmed that some members had renewed interest in merging with the Lincoln Club of Coachella Valley, which attracts mid-valley Republicans.
