No two families are the same, and nowhere is this more evident than here in the Coachella Valley.
The Desert Sun and the Tolerance Education Center are teaming up to showcase and celebrate the diversity of our families. We want to explore what makes us family. And we’ll need your help.
We’re looking for 30 unique families to photograph and profile for the project. We want to reflect and embrace our diversity, challenge stereotypes and dismantle prejudice by affirming differences of all kinds.
Our definition of family for this project is broad, encompassing all backgrounds, ethnicities, orientations, races, faiths, you name it. Maybe your family is a retirement community or a close-knit office. Maybe your family consists of you and your pets. Whatever your life story, we want to know. We want to hear about it all.
If you or someone you know would like to participate, send us a family photo and a few paragraphs about what makes your family unique by Oct. 11.
You can email your information to Marilyn Chung, our multimedia editor. Her email is Marilyn.Chung@thedesertsun.com. Or, if you prefer, send us your information through social media. You can find us on Facebook at facebook.com/mydesert. Our Twitter handle is @MyDesert, or use the hashtag #CVfamilies.
We look forward to hearing from you!
