Santa Ana winds create fire threat for Coachella Valley

The Coachella Valley will enjoy cool, fall-like weather for at least a couple more days, according to National Weather Service reports, but high winds moving into the area will dramatically raise fire danger in large swaths of California as surface high pressure builds into the Pacific Northwest.

Firm ends suit against Palm Springs, John Wessman 

One of three lawsuits filed against the city and/or John Wessman involving the Desert Fashion Plaza revitalization project has been dropped, with an agreement to pay the city $1.4 million, the city’s attorney said Thursday.

Coachella Valley officials urge grass-scalping alternative

With the cooler temperatures approaching, the Coachella Valley Association of Governments is reminding landscapers and gardeners of the dangers of scalping, a method of mowing grass to expose the stem before starting the reseeding process for the winter months.
