When it comes to music, I’m somewhat of an anomaly in The Desert Sun newsroom. While most of my younger (and they’re all pretty much young enough to be my kids!) colleagues are into the Coachella Music & Arts Festival, I’m a lifelong country music lover. Although I’m not on the Features team, editor Michael Felci taps me to help out on the coverage – and I enthusiastically look forward to the opportunity every year!
Since the 2014 Stagecoach lineup is due to be announced Thursday, I put a wish list together of the artists and groups I’m hoping will appear on the iconic Goldenvoice (the event producers) poster.
I’ve seen most of these acts at previous Stagecoach festivals and they include current country stars – including “old timers” George Straight and Reba – and Kid Rock (it’s hard to think of Kid Rock as “country”), whose rendition of “All Summer Long,” a mashup of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” is one of my favorite Stagecoach performances of all time.
