At least some Palm Desert residents are getting mail from Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet, encouraging them to vote in his city’s election.

pougnetYes, you read that right.

Pougnet, who next week is having a $250-per-person fundraiser to pay for his election outreach, told The Desert Sun that “the mail house got the list mixed up so some of the pieces dropped in Palm Desert.”

“They are embarrassed at their mistake to say the least and I apologize to any who were upset at receiving it,” Pougnet said in an email.

“However, I did get a call from someone who didn’t realize all the great things going on in Palm Springs, so perhaps there is a bright side to the mistake.”

Pougnet is supporting Mayor Pro Tem Chris Mills and Councilwoman Ginny Foat in the Nov. 5 election.
