The Black and White Ball at the Plaza never seems to lose its glam longings.
It’s being imagined back at the Viceroy Palm Springs‘ Venetian Bacchanal black and white masquerade ball on New Year’s Eve.
In a move to wow even Capote and Graham, expect an evening of unforgettable sumptuousness — depending on how much of the free-flowing Veuve Clicquot you swill — with Venetian actors, a feast “celebrating the bounty of both land and sea” with a four-course meal, DJ Valida spinning under the stars and a 2,014-balloon drop on the dance floor at midnight.
And if the Champagne and Venetian actors isn’t enough to lure you over the Viceroy threshold, how about a little crap bisque with Parmesan crisps and basil Crème fraîche foam? Like most diners I know what all of these ingredients are, but can’t say I’ve ever had them in that fashion. And this is but one of the appetizers on the night’s menu. The full menu is below.
The night is being limited to 100 guests, with rates starting at two persons in a one-bedroom villa, from $1,500, four persons in a two-bedroom villa, from $2,500. If you want just the Viceroy Venetian Bacchanal dinner and party, it’s $360 per person.
Perhaps you don’t need the four-course meal and endless Champagne. The Viceroy has also planned its Citron New Year’s Eve Reception, (9 p.m. to 2 a..m.) planned for the area around the Citron Pool, (that’s the middle one near the bar,) with DJ’s Lady Sinclair and Aubrey Hansen spinning from a balcony perch. Guest entertainment by Zen Arts. Room rates are from $525 (for two people.) For the reception only, $75 pr person.
