State Assemblyman Brian Nestande will be featured on national television tonight in an appearance that could raise his profile with Republican donors.
The Palm Desert lawmaker, who is campaigning for the 36th Congressional seat, will be featured on Fox News’ Hannity with Sean Hannity.
Last month, Nestande announced legislation that would put all California legislators in Covered California, the state’s health benefits exchange.
“As legislators, we are responsible for implementing the guidelines under the Affordable Care Act. If the laws that we pass are good enough for our citizens and businesses, they should be good enough for us as elected officials,” Nestande has said in a statement.
“If we truly want to understand how the ACA is working and being implemented, there is no better way than to enroll in the exchange along with the people who elected us and share in the same benefits program.”
Nestande is trying to unseat Rep. Raul Ruiz, a Palm Desert Democrat who is an emergency room physician.
Twitter feeds indicate tonight’s program will also feature former Rep. Mary Bono, a Palm Springs Republican who is Nestande’s political ally and friend.
After she lost November’s election to Ruiz, Bono made a slew of appearances on CNN and other cable news shows with her then-husband, former Rep. Connie Mack of Florida.
The duo even considered becoming regular TV commentators.
Hannity airs at 7 p.m. local time.
