There’s no shortage of streets named after celebrities and other prominent Coachella Valley residents across the desert, and one more is being added to the long list.

A street in downtown Cathedral City will be named after the community’s first mayor, Robert Hillery.

A ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 14, according to the Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce.

Hillery’s father, Williard Hillery, moved to the desert in the 1920s and founded the chamber in 1937.

His mother, Marguerite Hillery, established the Cathedral City Library.

Robert Hillery was a member of Cathedral City Elementary School’s first graduating class in 1940.
