I’m on the radio, talking bird deaths at solar projects

November 12th, 2013 | by K Kaufmann | Comments

My story in Sunday’s Desert Sun on unexpected bird deaths at desert solar projects is drawing attention, locally and nationally. The story was first picked up on USA Today’s national website, and Tuesday morning, around 9:20 PST I’ll be on interviewed on public radio station KPCC., where I’ll be talking about the birds, such as the one below, that had its wings melted after flying through the intense radiation coming off mirrors at BrightSource Energy’s Ivanpah project.

The segment will probably be around 5 minutes.

An injured northern rough-winged swallow found on Colosseum Road at the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System.

Listen in.
