Mr. Cox retailer opens with new lounge concept

Amy Cox reopens her clothing retail shop on Indian Canyon near the new Hard Rock Hotel this Friday, Nov. 29. Cox, who held the shop Mr. Cox (named after her father) in downtown Palm Springs first opening on Black Friday in 2011, has relocated to the new location (again opening on Black Friday) for more space complete with a water bar and lounge area and isn’t sparing any details.

The retail shop, specializing in high-end vintage wear, has been fitted with custom-made racks and carefully selected paints. Some of the walls are even painted with cork.

The bar will feature water that according to Cox isn’t available in any general grocery store. Among the brands to be available at Mr. Cox are Sole, Lauretana and Tau.

Water bars have grown in Europe and have since spread to parts in the United States. Los Angeles’ upscale eatery Ray’s and Stark Bar (part of the Patina Restaurant Group) also has an extensive water list spanning 45 pages.

While Mr. Cox might not have a 45-page water menu, its owner is looking to make it an aptly-termed go-to watering hole in the desert.
