Robert Irvine, Food NetworkFood Network’s reality series “Restaurant Impossible” comes to the desert next week to transform Cathedral City’s Tootie’s Texas Bar-B-Que.

Chef Robert Irvine and gang will be spending two days, Dec. 10 and 11,  in the desert to “do the impossible” a.k.a. give new life to the local BBQ joint with only $10,000 to spend.  The restaurant will reopen on day two, Wednesday, and invites locals to dine in the newly redone eatery. Tootie’s will now take reservations for that evening at 7 p.m. by phone at (760) 202-6963.

“Restaurant Impossible” premiered in 2011 and is currently in it’s seventh season. Each episode opens with ”Chef Robert Irvine has 2 days and $10,000 to do the impossible!” on the premise that Irvine will enter struggling restaurants throughout the country and help them become successful.  Past restaurants this season have included Mama Campisi’s Restaurant in Missouri, Windsor 75 in Connecticut and Even in Indiana. Tootie’s is located at 68703 Perez Road in Cathedral City.
