The Andalusian Court hotel will be one of the stops on the annual Walking Tour of the Inns on Thursday.

Yes, it will be chilly Thursday night. And yes, the 18th annual Walking Tour of the Inns will happen.

“Rain or shine, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There’s no question this year, rain or shine,” Laura Ramstead, general manger for the Del Marcos Hotel and organizer for the Walking Tour of the Inns, told the Palm Springs Main Street group last week. The tour is Thursday, Dec. 12. The walking tour, which features more than a dozen small hotels in the Historic Tennis Club neighborhood, was cancelled at the last minute last year due to rain — even though a number of residents and visitors still showed up.

Some 2,500 participants are expected this year.

The starting time has been moved up to 4 p.m., for those walkers not wanting to feel their way in the dark.

“We get a lot of people who show up early anyway, because they don’t want to be out after dark, so we just bumped it up to 4 p.m.,” said Ramstead.

Flashlights are provided at either of the two starting points: the Palm Springs Art Museum or the Palm Springs Woman’s Club.

“After several years, we realized that a lot of people start at the museum, and they peter out as they get to the end of the inn walk, so we decided to have two spots,” Ramstead explained.

In addition to having rooms and lobbies open for viewing, many of the small hotels will also have light snacks and beverages for visitors.
