Desert Radio Group bringing sports back to lineup

Desert Radio Group announced Wednesday that it will once again provide sports coverage.

Fox Sports 1270 was scheduled to launch at 12 p.m. Wednesday.

tdsdc5-69380cmwzpf2lvyjdu8_layoutThe syndication schedule is: “Fox Sports Daybreak,” 6 to 9 a.m.; “Jay Mohr Sports,” 9 a.m. to noon; “Fox Sports Primetime,” noon to 4 p.m.; “TMZ Sports,” 4 to 5 p.m. and “The Petros and Money Show,” 5 to 7 p.m.

The new call sign for the station, currently KFUT, will be KFSQ, according to the radio group.

“Fox Sports Radio programming originates in SoCal, and we are thrilled to bring it to the desert, serving Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley,” Program Director Mike Oakes said in a statement. “And I’m especially excited to launch two rising shows in the sports talk universe: ‘Jay Mohr Sports’ and ‘TMZ Sports.’”

The group, part of Morris Communications Co. LLC, sold sports station Team 1010, KXPS, to Arizona-based CRC Broadcasting Co. in 2011.

As KFUT, 1270 AM aired Spanish-language oldies.
