Palm Desert resident Kathleen O’Brien wrote in an email, “With thousands of women in this country touched with breast cancer, and we are being honored, is truly heart warming,” on getting the recognition at the NYC “Pretty in Pink” event.
“Brenda lives in New York City and is with the Lion King on Broadway. Angel and I, being from California, feel honored they are including all of us in their 2014 New York Women of Strength Award.”
Palm Desert resident Kathleen O’Brien, whose family’s battle with breast cancer was profiled nearly one year ago in The Desert Sun, continues to raise awareness about the disease any way she can. Her treatment continues as she will undergo breast reconstruction and a hysterectomy Monday at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. The O’Brien Sisters will be given the award on Thursday, February 20, 2014 in New York.
“We three sisters are being honored but it’s also for all of my warrior survivor sisters out there we are a team.”
