The California Fair Political Practices Commission today issued a $3,000 fine against Republican Russ Bogh for a donation he accepted during the 2010 state Senate campaign.

Bogh, a former state Assemblyman from Beaumont, had been campaigning for the 37th state Senate seat, which included parts of the Coachella Valley. Bogh lost in the primary, and Republican Bill Emmerson went on to win the seat.

According to the FPPC, Bogh iBoghmproperly accepted an $11,000 loan from Bogh Engineering, Inc., which exceeded the 3,900 per-election limit for contributions.

Bogh also ran for state Senate in 2008 against Republican John Benoit, who is now a Riverside County supervisor.
