House Speaker John Boehner is in the Coachella Valley this week to raise money for House Republicans.
The Ohio Republican will headline a desert fundraiser for the National Republican Congressional Committee, according to Brian Harnik, the campaign chairman for Assemblyman Brian Nestande, a Palm Desert Republican who is running for Congress.
“Brian is attending the event,” Harnik said. “This is not a Nestande fundraiser. It’s an NRCC fundraiser.”
Harnik did not have details about when or where the event would be held.
Boehner’s office does not release the speaker’s schedule.
However, a Republican aide confirmed he is in California for House Republican members and candidates.
Boehner is also scheduled as a guest on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
Harnik did not know if Nestande would have any private meetings during Boehner’s visit.
Boehner is no stranger to the desert or its golf courses.
His previous campaign efforts have included an April 2012 fundraiser in La Quinta, where he helped then-Rep. Mary Bono raise money.
Nestande is challenging Rep. Raul Ruiz, a Palm Desert Democrat, for the 36th Congressional District.
