Walmart is looking to fill 65 positions for its new Neighborhood Market in Coachella.

Walmart will hire about 65 employees for its new Neighborhood Market in Coachella, set to open this spring.

A temporary hiring center was set up at 48220 Jackson St., Suite A-3 in the same shopping center that the new store will be. Applications are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“As one of the largest employers in Riverside County, Walmart is a tremendous asset for our region,” said Tom Flavin, CEO of the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership in a statement. “We are excited to soon welcome the store to Coachella, along with the jobs and new economic opportunities it will bring.”

The Neighborhood Market, which will be at Avenue 48 and Jackson Street, will be the first Walmart in the city of Coachella.

Currently, Coachella residents have to travel to La Quinta to visit the closest Walmart.

Neighborhood Markets are much smaller than the traditional Walmart Supercenter stores and sell mostly groceries, health, beauty and pharmacy products, and pet supplies.

The store on Jackson Street will hire full-time and part-time associates. Most jobs will begin in April to prepare the store for its grand opening.

Mark Vasquez will manage the Coachella store.

It’s the second Neighborhood Market to be built in the Coachella Valley–Walmart also opened a Neighborhood Market in Palm Desert last month.
