After 25 years of White Parties, Jeffrey Sanker gets his due on the streets of Palm Springs with a star this year.
Sanker, founder and producer of White Party Palm Springs, will receive the Golden Palm Star on The Palm Springs Walk of Stars on March 13 at 1 p.m. at the southeast corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Arenas Road (at Lulu California Bistro.)
For his Star Dedication ceremony, singer Carmen Electra and (former) Mayor Ron Oden are two of the special guests speaking, the White Party announced Wednesday.
White Party Palm Springs, the largest gay dance music festival in the world, celebrates its 25th Anniversary April 25-28. The event originally began as a gathering for 300 of Sanker’s closest friends celebrating the rites of spring and has since evolved into 30,000 men from across the world. White Party’s growing popularity brought with it global awareness of Palm Springs and made it one of the top vacation destinations for the LGBT community worldwide.
Sanker’s passion for parties began during the early eighties in New York City. Working at such legendary locations as Studio 54, Palladium and Private Eyes, he fine-tuned his skills as a promoter and special events producer. He has hosted parties for numerous celebrities and charities over the years.
Superstar entertainment has become a hallmark of Sanker’s events. Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Carly Rae Jepsen, Icona Pop, Anastasia, Toni Braxton, Carmen Electra, Ke$ha and Robyn have all graced the stage at White Party.
Sanker has also helped ignite the careers of countless rising-star DJs by giving them their first big break. This prompted NEXT Magazine to comment: “the two best friends a DJ can have are Madonna and Jeffrey Sanker.”
Sanker has produced fundraising events on behalf of numerous charities and community organizations, including Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing (GLEH), The Trevor Project, and Desert AIDS Project.
