The Home Depot is looking to fill 765 seasonal part-time jobs across the Coachella Valley region, the giant home improvement retailer announced Wednesday.
The local jobs are part of a national effort to hire 80,000 associates for its busiest season in spring. Students, retirees, veterans and reservists are encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants can apply online. No job fair has been currently scheduled, according to a news release.
There are 15 stores within a 50-mile radius of Palm Springs, according to the website. But directly within the nine main valley cities, Home Depot has locations in Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta and Indio.
The publicly traded company employs more than 300,000 associates in 2,263 retail stores across the country, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
The retail trade consistently drives a large chunk of the Inland Empire’s regional economy. The retail trade added 3,500 jobs in December, about 76 percent of the month-over-month growth for the trade, transportation and utilities industry. Year-over-year, retail added a total 5,600 jobs from December 2012 to December 2013.
The areas of highest unemployment are in Coachella, Desert Hot Springs and Mecca, according to December data from the state Employment Development Department.
