La Quinta High School is scheduled to host a conference to empower local Latina youth on March 1.

The Adelante Youth Latinas Conference “offers guidance and motivational speakers to empower and motivate young Latinas to a path of professional careers, through higher education.”

The nonprofit organization is part of the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio.

The event will give girls between 8th and 12th grade an opportunity to explore career options and connect with professional Latinas.

Dr. Farah Meadows will be the keynote speaker. Meadows, a graduate of the University of Southern California, is an educator with the Desert Sands Unified School District.

Space is limited, so participants should register online.

Workshops will also be available for parents.

The conference is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the high school, 79255 Blackhawk Way.
